Not Exciting!
Wednesday, March 08, 2006

Apparently my last blog wasn't exciting enough!

So tell you about something that happened last night.

Yesterday I watched a commercial asking for blood donations. In this commercial was a girl who had an organ transplant and had needed blood. So I thought about Sarah (for those who don't know, Sarah is a friend, who on Saturday had a lung transplant) and I had the idea that I'd donate blood for all the Sarahs out there who'd need it. When John came home I told him my idea, he said it was a good one and he'd donate, too. After spending close to an hour and a half in traffic, we finally got to the donor clinic. However, they can't take my blood because my Hemoglobin is .3% below what they like, even though I have a rare blood type, AB+. I'm invited back in 52 days after I load myself up on vitamin C and folic acid (which I should start taking again anyway). Both of those are supposed to help my body absorb the iron I need.

John passed his iron test though. His little droplet of blood sank to the bottom of the test tube at terminal velocity! It only took him 6 minutes to completely fill the bag, and he has O- blood, which meant the clinic was VERY happy with him!

After that we stayed at the clinic so John could have some food before we drove home.

Anyway, I hope this post was more exciting than the last.
