My passionate rantings

Tired
Wednesday, January 17, 2007

Alright, so I was a bit upset in the last post. We'd had a couple telemarketers and a friend call between 830 and 1030 am. I'm guessing that, with the last call, John mistook the phone for the alarm clock and turned the clock off (people are not responcible for anything they do while still half asleep). That meant that I almost missed my job interview at 1230. I wokeup at 1150, yelled at John while racing to get dressed, ran to the interview and got there with 5 minutes to spare.

By the time I started my 5 minute interview I had only been awake for 45 minutes, but I still nailed the job! It's at another clinic, for more hours and more pay. This clinic however doesn't want me to continue at Atlantic, so I'd have to give that one up. A big issue is that I don't know when I start this new job. It may be in two weeks or it may be at the end of April. Oh well, I just have to wait and see.

Justifiable Homicide

Everyone knows that John works the late shift at Shaw Cable. If he's not on a long call, then he's off at 11:30pm. He then has to travel an hour and a half to get home. If he catches the skytrain and bus at the right time, then he's home at 1am. If not, then he's home at 2am. After having dinner and spending quality time with his computer and each other, we don't often get to bed before 3 or 4 in the morning. Therefore it's safe to assume that calling us before noon is A VERY BAD IDEA, and not funny either! I just wanted to make that clear for everyone, especially you morning birds.

Lots of stuff...sort of.

Lets see, what's been happening? Last week I destroyed my shower by trying to clean it. I was rinsing everything with straight hot water from the shower and using the curtain rod for balance. The rod let go and sent me right into the hot water. Thankfully I got out and stripped fast enough that all I got was some very minor burns on my arm and back (already healed!). My leg is still bruised though because in the fall I smashed it on the side of the tub.

Wednesday we went to Science world to see the "Body Worlds 3" Exhibit. I enjoyed the exhibit it self, but I could have done without everything else that happened. First was being splashed from head to toe, swallowing a mouth full of road water, then having to wait in the freezing cold for the bus. Next was the endless amount of teenagers and their school projects. It was difficult to see anything with all of them crowded around. When we did get to see something it usually came along with some very immature jokes (reproductive organs was the worst). Third was the trip home. What is usually an hour and fifteen trip became a 2.5 hours.

I got lots of good news that night, however. My transfer to this army cadet corps was completed that day. Most transfers take months, but this corps wanted me so badly that it was pushed through and only took a month. Now they're pushing my promotion and my Commanding Officer was told by his boss that it will be in my hands within a few weeks! Plus it will be back dated to a time while I was still parading in Edmonton! Which means that I get a pay raise and back pay! It also means that DND (Department of National Defence for all you gamers) admits that everything 27 RCSCC Warrior did was wrong and things are now being corrected!

There are a few courses my new CO wants me to take and I can't wait. I already have Range safety officer for air rifles, but now he wants me to get "RSO small bore" (.22 Rifle.) and "Abseil / Basic Rock Climbing Instructor Course". Other courses I want are "Canoe Instructor" and "Cold Weather Instructor Course" but that will be next winter. This will be a busy year.
